About the Role
One Acre Fund is recruiting for an Investor Relations Graduate Trainee to join its Finance Division in Nairobi. This is a full-time position based in Kenya’s capital, supporting the Investor Relations team as it manages the organization’s debt portfolio, cultivates lender relationships, and oversees capital structure decisions. One Acre Fund is a nonprofit that provides smallholder farmers across East Africa with asset-based financing and agricultural training to combat food insecurity and rural poverty.
The Investor Relations team comprises three professionals working across Kenya and the United States. As a graduate trainee, you will report to the Investor Relations Specialist and handle a mix of loan compliance, financial reporting, lender due diligence coordination, and analytical projects. This role suits candidates interested in accounting, impact investing, or development finance who want hands-on experience working with institutional lenders in a mission-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare financial and operational reports for lenders and support internal reporting for senior management, including interest payment processing and account reconciliations
- Maintain lender records and loan documentation, and assist with the execution and closing of new loan agreements
- Coordinate due diligence requests from prospective and existing lenders, gathering information from other departments and assembling findings into summaries, spreadsheets, and presentations
- Support the development and improvement of systems and processes that enable the Investor Relations team to operate efficiently
- Assist with financial modeling, dashboard creation, research initiatives, and special projects that inform decision-making and external communication
- Consolidate information from multiple sources across the organization and present key insights in clear written and verbal formats
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (BA, BSc, or HND) with a top-performing academic record
- Sound understanding of finance and accounting fundamentals, with some exposure to financial statement analysis preferred
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including financial modeling and complex formulas such as Index, Match, and Lookup functions; familiarity with Google Sheets is an advantage
- Strong analytical ability and meticulous attention to detail in all work output
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to synthesize complex information clearly
- Capacity to work independently on assigned tasks and collaboratively within team settings as project requirements demand
- Ability to collaborate effectively with geographically dispersed colleagues and remote team members
- Blend of strong leadership capability with good humor, patience, and a service-oriented mindset
