About the Role
Moja EV Kenya is recruiting an Accountant to join its finance team in Nairobi on a full-time basis. This is a permanent position suited to finance professionals with 3–5 years of accounting experience and a background in financial management within leasing, banking, or insurance sectors. The Accountant at Moja EV Kenya will manage core accounting functions, maintain financial compliance, and support strategic decision-making across the organisation.
The role reports directly to the finance leadership and requires a methodical approach to financial record-keeping, regulatory compliance, and audit coordination. You will work alongside the finance and operations teams to ensure accurate reporting and timely resolution of financial matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including management of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger transactions.
- Compile and maintain financial records that comply with all applicable accounting standards and internal company procedures.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for management and stakeholder review.
- Contribute to budget development, financial forecasting, and cash flow planning and analysis.
- Execute bank reconciliations on schedule and verify the accuracy and completeness of all transaction documentation.
- Monitor compliance with Kenyan tax obligations, including VAT returns, PAYE deductions, and corporate tax submissions.
- Work with external audit firms to facilitate audits and provide necessary financial records and explanations.
- Liaise with finance and operations colleagues to provide financial data that informs business strategy and planning.
- Maintain organised systems for filing and retrieving financial and statutory records.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a closely related field; HND in a finance discipline is also acceptable.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) qualification or equivalent professional accounting certification.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of hands-on experience in financial management and accounting practice.
- Demonstrated experience with vehicle leasing models, financial reporting frameworks, and credit risk assessment.
- Proven track record of managing banking relationships and negotiating terms with financial institutions.
- Working knowledge of insurance operations and experience negotiating with insurance providers.
- Sound understanding of Kenyan financial regulations, tax law, and leasing industry legislation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
