About the Role

Sucafina is recruiting a Machine Operator for its coffee processing facility in Kenya. This is a full-time casual position focused on the day-to-day operation of industrial coffee processing equipment. The Machine Operator works under direct supervision to ensure production targets are met safely and efficiently, operating machinery across pre-cleaning, grading, bulking, and color sorting stages.

The Machine Operator at Sucafina role requires a hands-on operator with technical aptitude and a commitment to quality standards. You will work shifts at the processing plant, managing equipment calibration, monitoring output, and maintaining export-ready production standards. This is a frontline position in a structured manufacturing environment where precision and safety are non-negotiable.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate coffee processing machinery including pre-cleaning units, grading equipment, bulking systems, and optical sorters in line with daily production schedules and Processing Instructions (PIs).
• Monitor and adjust machinery settings such as Bühler Sortex sensitivities and Gravity Table vibration to ensure optimal coffee separation and consistent output quality.
• Feed correct coffee lots into machines according to specifications and verify that processed batches meet required quality standards.
• Track hourly and daily production outputs, recording results accurately and reporting any bottlenecks or equipment slowdowns to the supervisor immediately.
• Perform routine troubleshooting and basic adjustments on production machinery and utilities; escalate mechanical or electrical faults that require specialist attention.
• Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols, wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) throughout shifts, and report any near-misses or incidents on the production floor.
• Ensure the production floor and all machinery are kept to export-ready cleanliness standards during and after each shift.
• Work closely with quality control personnel to minimize rework and material waste during processing.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Completion of secondary education with demonstrated technical aptitude; a diploma or certificate in mechanical, electrical, or industrial operations is preferred.
• At least 2–3 years of hands-on experience operating machinery in a coffee mill, food processing plant, or similar high-volume manufacturing environment.
• Working knowledge of coffee grading standards, optical sorter operation, and coffee processing workflows.
• Practical competency with basic electrical and mechanical systems maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with industrial safety standards and willingness to follow all SHE (Safety, Health, Environment) protocols without exception.
• Prior experience with Bühler processing equipment is advantageous but not essential.
• Ability to work shift patterns and respond promptly to operational changes or emergencies on the factory floor.
