About the Role

Fairmont Hotels & Resorts is recruiting for a Room Attendant at their Nairobi property, The Fairmont Norfolk — a landmark 170-room luxury hotel featuring 4 restaurants and distinctive Tudor architecture. This is a full-time, casual position in the hospitality sector based in Nairobi. The role reports directly to the Head Housekeeper and forms a critical part of the housekeeping team responsible for maintaining the high standards expected across the property.

The Room Attendant at Fairmont Hotels & Resorts plays an essential part in guest experience and property upkeep. You will be responsible for the cleanliness and presentation of guest rooms, public areas, and common spaces. This is hands-on work requiring attention to detail, physical stamina, and a methodical approach to daily tasks.

Key Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain guest rooms and public areas including dusting, window and mirror cleaning, surface stain removal, and carpet shampooing.
• Strip beds and replace with fresh linens; replenish clean towels and bathroom amenities according to property standards.
• Collect and transport guest laundry to and from the laundry department, maintaining accurate counts and records.
• Conduct turn-down services and respond promptly to guest requests and inquiries throughout your shift.
• Inspect rooms after guest departure, report missing items or damage to supervisors, and verify all appliances are functioning.
• Report defective equipment or machinery to engineering and supervisory staff immediately for repair.
• Handle specialty room types including VIP suites, makeup rooms, and early-arrival preparations.
• Maintain cleaning equipment and materials in a clean, organised condition and ensure compliance with health, safety, hygiene, and security regulations.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Diploma in Housekeeping Operations, or a minimum of two years’ practical experience in a similar housekeeping role.
• At least one year of documented work experience as a Room Attendant or equivalent housekeeping position.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team setting.
• Physical capability to stand, walk, and lift items consistently throughout an 8-hour shift.
• Cost awareness and commitment to efficient use of materials and resources.
• Openness to adapting to changing priorities and new operational procedures.
• Familiarity with different room categories and layouts within a hotel property.
