About the Role

Key Responsibilities
- Operate laundry equipment to wash, dry, press, and fold school uniforms and personal clothing for all boarding students on a daily basis.

- Record details of all laundered items and coordinate their timely return and distribution to individual students.
- Strip, wash, and replace bed linen on a regular schedule; inspect and clean mosquito nets and other residential soft furnishings to ensure they remain functional and hygienic.
- Oversee external cleaning staff assigned to residential rooms and common areas, verifying that cleaning standards are met and spaces remain safe for student occupation.
- Identify and report maintenance concerns, equipment faults, or safety hazards in the laundry or residential areas to your supervisor without delay.
- Follow all infection control and hygiene procedures specified by the institution when handling laundry, bedding, and cleaning materials.
- Transport used and excess linens, bedding, and cleaning supplies to the linen storage area as directed by management.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or an equivalent qualification.
- A certificate in Housekeeping, Laundry Operations, or Hospitality Services is advantageous.
- Between 1 and 2 years of hands-on experience in laundry operations, housekeeping, or hospitality services, ideally within a school, hotel, or institutional setting.
- Working knowledge of infection control standards, basic hygiene principles, and the safe handling of laundry equipment and chemical detergents.
- Practical competence in laundry procedures including washing techniques, pressing, folding, and linen management.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness and personal hygiene in a work environment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling and tracking students’ personal items.
- Reliable, honest character with a genuine concern for student safety and welfare; ability to work as part of a team and communicate clearly with colleagues.
