About the Role
AGL- Africa Global Logistics is recruiting a Clearing And Forwarding Operator – Agl Sez M/f to join their logistics and customs clearance team in Kenya. This is a full-time position that sits at the centre of cargo movement, documentation, and client communication within the special economic zone operations. You’ll manage the end-to-end processing of freight shipments, coordinate with shipping lines, and maintain real-time visibility on all active files for clients.
The Clearing And Forwarding Operator – Agl Sez M/f role requires someone who can balance multiple shipments, respond to client enquiries promptly, and keep accurate records across both physical and digital systems. Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day communication with clients, including receiving shipment orders and addressing queries in real time.
- Request and follow up on missing documentation or detailed instructions needed from clients to process files.
- Update clients and internal systems with file processing progress and monitor shipment status in the designated software.
- Prepare export documentation for shipments and book cargo space with shipping line operators.
- Coordinate and arrange transport for container delivery to Port of Mombasa (POR) and stuffing locations.
- Track vessel arrivals with shipping lines and monitor invoice receipt, ensuring all supporting documents are attached to files and filed for approval.
- Archive files both physically and electronically on a regular schedule to maintain organized records.
- Alert clients and escalate operational issues—whether potential or actual—to management and the internal freight operations system when you cannot resolve them directly.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma qualification in Clearing and Forwarding or equivalent certification in customs logistics.
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience working in clearing and forwarding operations.
- East Africa Freight Forwarding Practicing Certificate (an advantage, not mandatory).
- Ability to track multiple shipments simultaneously without losing attention to detail.
- Proficiency in using freight forwarding software and monitoring systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to liaison between clients, shipping lines, and internal teams.
