About the Role

Key Responsibilities
- Reduce operational risk by scheduling and executing regular data backups and test restores, closing audit findings on time, and running Disaster Recovery tests according to plan to keep the bank prepared for system failures.
- Maintain continuous system availability across all customer channels and business applications, minimising unplanned outages and ensuring recovery meets the bank’s Recovery Time Objective targets in any incident.
- Oversee the service desk function by monitoring ticket resolution, enforcing adherence to Service Level Agreements, and escalating blocked issues to stakeholders to maintain service standards and user satisfaction.
- Lead the implementation of IT business systems projects from planning through go-live, meeting all milestones and contributing to testing phases across non-IT projects to ensure smooth integration and operation.
- Manage end-of-day batch processing across the Core Banking, Clearing, and Recoveries systems, monitoring completion accuracy and timeliness, and escalating delays immediately to prevent operational disruption.
- Guide and develop your team through coaching, training, and performance feedback to build capability and drive results aligned with organisational objectives.
- Identify cost reduction opportunities by evaluating vendor contracts, deploying efficient solutions, and negotiating better commercial terms without compromising system quality or function.
- Monitor system performance metrics to spot inefficiencies and bottlenecks, recommending improvements to optimise throughput and reduce latency across business applications.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related IT field.
- Proven knowledge of Linux/Unix operating systems and experience managing Oracle MySQL and MSSQL databases.
- Formal qualification or demonstrated experience in project management methodologies.
- Minimum two years of experience supporting and managing business applications in a banking or similar regulated environment.
- Familiarity with IT service management frameworks including ticketing systems and SLA enforcement.
- Strong capability in risk assessment and business continuity planning.
