About the Role
We are recruiting a Procurement & Supply Chain Officer Job (55-60K) for a leading distributor specialising in food and beverage ingredients. This is a full-time position based in Kenya, with occasional regional travel required. You will report to the Managing Director and Senior Business Development Manager, overseeing all procurement operations, inventory management, warehousing, logistics coordination, and supply chain efficiency to support the organisation’s growth across the ingredients distribution sector.
The successful candidate will manage supplier relationships, maintain optimal inventory levels, supervise warehouse operations, and coordinate logistics activities. You will ensure timely product sourcing, regulatory compliance, and cost optimisation while maintaining quality and food safety standards throughout the supply chain.
Key Responsibilities
- Source food and beverage ingredients, packaging materials, and operational supplies from approved and new suppliers; obtain quotations, evaluate suppliers, and negotiate pricing based on comparative analyses.
- Raise purchase orders, monitor inventory replenishment schedules, and maintain comprehensive procurement records and documentation in line with company policies.
- Monitor supplier performance on quality, pricing, lead times, and service delivery; develop and maintain strategic relationships with local and international suppliers.
- Maintain optimal stock levels using ERP systems; conduct regular stock reconciliations and cycle counts to prevent stockouts and overstocking while adhering to FEFO/FIFO practices.
- Monitor inventory movement, track expiry dates, investigate variances, and minimise product losses and obsolescence.
- Supervise receiving, storage, picking, packing, and dispatch operations; ensure proper storage conditions and maintain warehouse cleanliness, organisation, and safety standards.
- Coordinate deliveries to customers within agreed timelines; plan and optimise transport routes, liaise with transporters and clearing agents, and monitor transportation costs and vehicle utilisation.
- Coordinate demand planning with sales and operations teams, support customs clearance processes, and prepare operational reports for management.
- Ensure compliance with Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS), Public Health regulations, food safety standards, and Occupational Safety and Health requirements; participate in internal and external audits.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Procurement & Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field.
- Minimum 2–5 years’ experience in procurement, warehousing, logistics, or supply chain operations.
- Experience in the food & beverage, FMCG, or ingredients distribution industry is preferred.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Professional qualifications such as CIPS, KISM, or CPSP-K will be an added advantage.
- Knowledge of import/export logistics and customs procedures is advantageous.
- Valid passport required.
- Strong negotiation and supplier management skills; analytical and problem-solving abilities; excellent organisational and planning capabilities; high attention to detail and accuracy.
