About the Role

iColo, a leading carrier-neutral data center operator, is seeking a Procurement Intern to support its procurement operations in Nairobi. This full-time internship offers hands-on exposure to sourcing, vendor management, and supply chain processes within a professional infrastructure services environment. You will work with the Procurement team to maintain accurate vendor records, process purchase requisitions, coordinate supplier engagements, and ensure compliant procurement administration across the organisation’s operations in Kenya and Mozambique.

The Procurement Intern at iColo: A Digital Realty Company will contribute to operational efficiency by managing procurement documentation, tracking orders, and assisting with vendor evaluation. This role is ideal for recent graduates or final-year students in procurement, supply chain, or business administration who want practical experience in a structured corporate procurement function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Update, validate and maintain procurement master data sheets and vendor information systems
  • Support vendor prequalification, requalification and onboarding procedures, including record maintenance
  • Raise Purchase Requisitions (PRs) in the e-procurement system and monitor their timely processing
  • Manage Requests for Quotations (RFQs) and Requests for Proposals (RFPs), including supplier follow-up and response documentation
  • Assist with quotation analysis by comparing pricing and conducting basic commercial evaluation
  • Prepare procurement reports, performance trackers and supply chain metrics
  • Draft Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) and other procurement contracts and documentation
  • Track Purchase Orders (POs) to ensure timely delivery and receipt of goods and services
  • Maintain organised procurement files and ensure proper archiving of all procurement records
  • Support improvements to procurement workflows, systems and standard operating procedures

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BSc) or HND in Procurement and Supply Chain Management, Purchasing and Supplies Management, Logistics, Business Administration or related field
  • Working knowledge of procurement principles, sourcing methodologies, supplier management and the procurement lifecycle
  • Competent in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling procurement data and documentation
  • Analytical ability to interpret procurement information and evaluate supplier quotations
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with internal teams and external suppliers
  • Organised approach to managing multiple tasks, tracking deadlines and follow-up activities
  • Commitment to confidentiality, integrity and professional conduct when handling sensitive procurement information
  • Experience with ERP or e-procurement systems is an advantage
  • KISM (Kenya Institute of Supplies Management) student membership is an advantage
