About the Role

Jubilee Insurance is recruiting a Platform Engineering Intern to join the Platform Engineering team in Kenya. This internship offers hands-on experience in maintaining digital systems that are reliable, secure, and built to scale. You’ll work directly under the Team Leader – Platform Engineering, contributing to real engineering work across development, testing, and supervised operational environments while developing core competencies in platform operations and cloud infrastructure.

The Platform Engineering Intern position at Jubilee Insurance provides structured exposure to the technical foundations of modern platform engineering. You will engage with observability tools, automation frameworks, and DevSecOps methodologies — skills that form the bedrock of a career progression into a full Platform Engineer role. Key Responsibilities

• Support the Platform Engineering team in maintaining systems across development, testing, and controlled operational environments.
• Assist with cloud infrastructure tasks under supervision, including provisioning, configuration, and monitoring of platform resources.
• Contribute to automation initiatives that reduce manual operational work and improve deployment consistency.
• Participate in observability and monitoring activities, learning how to instrument systems and interpret operational signals.
• Work on DevSecOps-related tasks, including security checks, compliance validation, and infrastructure hardening under guidance.
• Document technical processes and maintain runbooks to support team knowledge sharing.
• Escalate issues appropriately and collaborate with the team to resolve platform incidents in controlled settings.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline.
• Strong foundational understanding of computing principles and systems architecture.
• Familiarity with at least one programming language or scripting environment.
• Basic knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) is advantageous but not required.
• Previous internship experience within a financial institution is an added advantage.
• Ability to follow technical documentation and ask clarifying questions when guidance is needed.
• Reliable attendance and a commitment to meeting deadlines and deliverables.
