About the Role
One Acre Fund is recruiting a Networks Administrator for its Nairobi office. This is a full-time position focused on managing, maintaining, and improving the organisation’s IT network infrastructure. You’ll be responsible for ensuring stable, secure, and reliable network connectivity across all systems while identifying opportunities to streamline operations through automation and cost reduction.
As a Networks Administrator at One Acre Fund, you’ll work within a mission-driven NGO environment where technical excellence directly supports the organisation’s ability to serve smallholder farmers across East Africa. This role requires both hands-on technical skills and the ability to think strategically about infrastructure improvements and service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Deploy, configure, and maintain LAN, WAN, network segments, and internet connectivity to ensure consistent uptime and performance across all sites
- Ensure all network connections operate in compliance with information security policies and organisational standards
- Install, configure, and maintain network hardware and software components, managing device lifecycles from deployment to retirement
- Coordinate with the Country IT Operations team to schedule and execute network upgrades and repairs, ensuring proper change management and staff training are completed
- Develop and update network documentation to maintain an accurate record of infrastructure, configurations, and procedures
- Design monitoring systems and alert thresholds to detect potential service disruptions before they impact operations
- Respond to and resolve network incidents and events within agreed service level agreements, assessing severity and implementing appropriate remediation
- Implement network redundancy and backup solutions to protect against data loss and service interruption
- Identify and pursue opportunities to improve network efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service quality through automation and process improvements
Requirements & Qualifications
- Solid understanding of industry standards and best practices for network management and administration
- Knowledge of device lifecycle management, including procurement, deployment, maintenance, and decommissioning
- Basic project management skills to coordinate network upgrades and changes effectively
- Hands-on experience with network infrastructure (LAN/WAN) and internet connectivity solutions
- Familiarity with network monitoring tools and incident response procedures
- Ability to work with technical documentation and maintain clear records of network systems and configurations
