About the Role

Welthungerhilfe is recruiting a Finance Processing Officer for its Nairobi office. This is a full-time position based in Kenya’s capital, supporting the organisation’s financial operations across its country offices. The Finance Processing Officer at Welthungerhilfe will play a core part in maintaining the accuracy and timeliness of financial records within a shared service hub environment.

The role requires someone with solid accounting fundamentals and the ability to work with multiple teams across different locations. You will be processing financial transactions daily, ensuring compliance with internal controls, and contributing to operational efficiency as the hub evolves and integrates new functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Record accounting transactions based on supporting documentation received through established workflows
  • Complete timely and accurate entry of financial documents into the general ledger and related accounts
  • Verify that required supporting documentation is present and available before processing financial items
  • Work with finance teams across Country Offices to resolve processing bottlenecks and follow up on outstanding transactions
  • Carry out account reconciliation activities on assigned accounts and balances
  • Maintain organised electronic filing systems and proper documentation of all accounting records
  • Adapt to operational changes and integrate new processes and responsibilities as the Hub expands its scope
  • Support adherence to internal control procedures and participate in audit activities as required

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
  • CPA (K) Finalist status with at least 3 years of progressive professional experience in accounting
  • Proven experience with general ledgers, journal entries, accounts payable, and balance sheet preparation
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel for data entry and reconciliation
  • Prior experience working with an international NGO and familiarity with international donor compliance requirements (preferred)
  • Background in audit or audit-related work (advantageous but not essential)
