About the Role

Mwananchi Credit Ltd is recruiting for HR Generalists to join its Human Resource team on a full-time basis in Kenya. This role sits within the core people operations function, overseeing recruitment metrics, employee relations, compliance, and the day-to-day administration of HR systems and processes. The successful candidates will report to senior HR leadership and serve as operational backbone for employee-facing programs and statutory obligations.

The HR Generalists at Mwananchi Credit Ltd will work across the entire employee lifecycle—from hiring through performance management to offboarding. You will combine data analysis with hands-on HR delivery, ensuring the organization meets legal requirements while supporting organizational change and development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Compile, maintain, and analyze HR reports and metrics covering recruitment activity, staff turnover, attendance patterns, and individual performance data.
  • Monitor adherence to Kenyan labor legislation and employment regulations; coordinate with external auditors and internal compliance teams during HR audits.
  • Contribute to organizational restructuring, culture initiatives, and change management activities alongside senior HR and business leaders.
  • Configure, troubleshoot, and optimize HR information systems and related workflows to improve efficiency and data integrity across the function.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding leave entitlements, benefits, policies, and career development pathways.
  • Prepare documentation for disciplinary, grievance, and termination procedures in line with legal standards.
  • Support recruitment campaigns, including job posting, screening coordination, and onboarding administration.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or closely related discipline.
  • Professional HR certification such as CHRP, IHRM, or equivalent credential recognized in Kenya or East Africa.
  • A minimum of 3 years working in a generalist HR capacity, with exposure to multiple HR functions in a formal organization.
  • In-depth knowledge of Kenyan employment law, including the Employment Act, Work Injury Benefits Act, and current labor court precedent.
  • Demonstrated competence with HRIS platforms (any modern payroll or HR software system); proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and email management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain HR policy to non-HR staff and senior management.
  • Attention to detail, particularly in report generation, data accuracy, and statutory filing deadlines.
