Athena is recruiting an Executive Assistant – Nairobi at Athena to support high-performing leaders and entrepreneurs. This full-time position is based in Kenya and requires you to work as a strategic partner to your client, managing their priorities, calendar, and communications while anticipating their needs before they arise. You’ll join a team that serves founders scaling venture-backed startups, investors running top-performing teams, public figures with significant platforms, and leaders balancing major ambitions with full lives.
The Executive Assistant – Nairobi at Athena role operates within Athena’s Hub Model, a system of regional in-person communities designed to deliver exceptional support and accelerate your career. This position is part of the Nairobi Hub, and you must live within 80km of Nairobi to be eligible. The structure combines intensive onboarding, monthly professional development sessions, and access to a network of like-minded professionals in a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage your client’s calendar, inbox, and communications to protect their focus and help them achieve their goals
- Conduct research and move strategic initiatives forward on behalf of your client
- Prepare executive-ready presentations, documents, and content for decision-making
- Build strong working relationships with your client’s team members and broader professional network
- Identify gaps in operations and take action independently, without waiting for direction
- Recognise potential obstacles early and resolve them before they become issues
- Function as a trusted strategic adviser, contributing insight and perspective to your client’s work
Requirements & Qualifications
- Clear, confident communication skills with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities and thrive in environments where plans change frequently
- Strong organisational capabilities and a proactive approach to problem-solving
- Fluent written and spoken English
- Proficiency with Google Workspace, Apple devices (Mac), and AI tools
- Commitment to full-time work at 40 hours per week, often aligned to U.S. time zones
- Willingness to be fully committed with no concurrent employment or side projects
- Stable internet connection with minimum 30 Mbps download speed
- Computer meeting minimum specifications: 8th gen Intel i5 or better, Ryzen 5 3000 series or newer, or Mac Core i5 (2017 or later) with 8GB RAM minimum (16GB recommended)
