About the Role

Accor is recruiting for a Driver Guide to join its team in Kenya on a full-time basis. This role combines professional driving expertise with interpretation and hospitality, positioning you as both vehicle operator and experience facilitator for guests exploring Kenya’s wildlife and natural landscapes. You’ll work across game reserves, conservancies, and national parks, delivering curated excursions that balance safety, comfort, and authentic storytelling.

The Driver Guide at Accor operates at the intersection of logistics and hospitality. You are responsible for transporting guests safely while sharing knowledge of wildlife behavior, ecosystems, local culture, and conservation. Your role requires presence, professionalism, and the ability to read guest expectations and adjust experiences accordingly—turning standard transfers into memorable encounters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and conduct game drives and nature excursions across Ol Pejeta Conservancy, Samburu National Reserve, Solio Game Reserve, Aberdare National Park, and Mount Kenya Forest.
  • Deliver informative commentary on East African wildlife, bird species, ecology, habitats, conservation practices, and local history and culture throughout all excursions.
  • Tailor guest experiences to individual interests, group composition, pace, and expectations, while remaining alert to comfort needs.
  • Execute airport transfers and inter-property journeys while maintaining service standards and guest engagement.
  • Inspect vehicles before and after each journey, maintain cleanliness and equipment readiness, and complete accurate excursion logs and incident reports.
  • Adhere to all road safety regulations, conservancy protocols, and property operational standards at all times.
  • Respond calmly and competently in emergency situations and communicate effectively with property management and guest services teams.
  • Promote responsible tourism practices and conservation awareness among guests during all interactions.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Valid driving license with a clean driving record.
  • Professional safari guiding or tour guiding experience in East Africa.
  • Bronze, Silver, or Gold level guiding certification or recognized equivalent qualification.
  • First Aid and Defensive Driving certifications or demonstrated equivalent competency.
  • Fluent spoken English; additional languages are valued.
  • Strong knowledge of East African wildlife behavior, bird identification, ecosystems, and local culture and heritage.
  • Demonstrated experience working in luxury hospitality or safari lodge operations.
  • Familiarity with the Laikipia ecosystem and surrounding conservancies.
  • Physical fitness and ability to work outdoors in varying weather and terrain conditions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, and the ability to anticipate and respond to guest needs.
  • High standards of personal grooming, presentation, and professional conduct.
  • Ability to remain composed and effective under pressure.
