About the Role
Equity Afia is seeking a full-time Accountant to join its finance team in Nairobi. This position plays a central part in the organization’s financial operations, handling billing, revenue recognition, and account reconciliation across all service lines. The Accountant at Equity Afia will work in a healthcare environment where accuracy and timeliness directly support operational and financial integrity.
As an Accountant at Equity Afia, you will report to the administration function and handle both routine and analytical accounting work. This role requires someone who can manage hospital billing systems, maintain clean financial records, and deliver reliable reporting to management. The position is full-time and based in Nairobi.
Key Responsibilities
- Process invoices and ensure all services rendered to customers are accurately billed and recorded
- Recognize revenue according to accounting standards and organizational policy
- Reconcile customer accounts and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
- Maintain financial records and data in accordance with established procedures and regulatory requirements
- Operate hospital billing systems to capture, track, and manage patient and service billing information
- Prepare support documentation and assist with the compilation of financial reports for management and stakeholders
- Perform month-end and period-end closing tasks including account reconciliations and adjusting entries
Requirements & Qualifications
- CPA Part Two certification or equivalent accounting qualification
- Minimum two (2) years of relevant accounting work experience
- Valid Certificate of Good Conduct
- Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills, with particular strength in Health Management Information Systems (HMIS)
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in all financial transactions and records
- Practical experience working with hospital or healthcare billing systems
- Clear communication skills and ability to work effectively with colleagues across departments
