About the Role
Concordis International seeks a Programme Intern to join its peacebuilding initiatives across Africa on a six-month remote basis. This volunteer internship provides hands-on exposure to programme management, conflict analysis, research, data systems, monitoring and evaluation, and grant development. You will work with established teams supporting communities affected by armed conflict in countries including the Central African Republic, Cameroon, Chad, Sudan, South Sudan and the Abyei region.
The Programme Intern at Concordis International – Remote Internship 2026 role is suited to recent graduates with academic training in international relations, development studies, conflict analysis or related fields. You must demonstrate professional fluency in both English and French, and a working knowledge of data tools and peacebuilding concepts. This is a flexible remote position with a minimum three-day-per-week commitment, starting in late September or early October 2026.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research into conflict-affected countries and communities, documenting trends and regional developments through media monitoring and open-source analysis.
- Analyse conflict patterns, programme datasets and international developments to support strategic decision-making.
- Support the drafting of programme reports, research documents and funding proposals for donor consideration.
- Assist in the design and implementation of monitoring, evaluation and learning systems for active projects.
- Set up data collection frameworks and analyse collected information, presenting key findings to internal teams and stakeholders.
- Research potential donors, grant-making bodies and funding opportunities aligned with peacebuilding objectives.
- Prepare materials for dialogue sessions, workshops and training activities; translate peacebuilding content where needed.
- Coordinate with project partners, attend meetings and seminars, and support recruitment activities including application review.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A master’s degree in international relations, development studies, conflict analysis or a closely related discipline.
- Fluent, professional-level English and French; knowledge of Arabic is advantageous.
- Demonstrated research, analytical and report-writing skills with ability to synthesise complex information.
- Practical experience with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Power BI, QGIS, KoboCollect or comparable data collection and mapping platforms.
- Strong organisational and administrative capabilities, with ability to manage multiple workstreams in a remote setting.
- Genuine interest in peacebuilding, conflict resolution and international development programming.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities, with capacity to work independently across time zones.
