Key Responsibilities

• Convert Swahili audio recordings into accurately typed written text

• Apply consistent formatting to all transcripts and adhere to the provided style guide
• Submit completed transcription work by the assigned deadline

Requirements & Qualifications

• Native or near-native fluency in spoken and written Kiswahili
• Fluency in at least one additional language: Nairobi Sheng, or a Kenyan or Tanzanian tribal language (Kikuyu, Luo, Luhya, Kamba, Kalenjin, Chaga, Haya, or similar)
• Demonstrated ability to spot errors and inconsistencies that others overlook
• Capacity to work to tight turnaround schedules without compromising transcript quality
• Reliable internet connection and a quiet, distraction-free workspace
• Proficiency with headphones and transcription software
• Prior experience in transcription, translation, subtitling, or linguistic data labelling for AI/ML projects is advantageous
