About the Role

A leading wine and beverage distributor in Kenya is recruiting a Shop Supervisor Job (35K) for their Galu retail location. This is a full-time position reporting to the Cellar Manager and Operations Director, with a three-month probation period. You will work six days per week on a flexible schedule suited to retail operations, plus eligibility for commission on top of the base salary.

The Shop Supervisor will be responsible for the complete operational management of the retail shop, from inventory control and financial reconciliation to customer service and compliance. This role sits at the centre of daily store performance, requiring someone who can balance stock accuracy, sales targets, and financial reporting while maintaining the standards expected in a specialist beverages retail environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee receipt, storage, and organisation of wine inventory, ensuring correct handling and strict adherence to FIFO rotation protocols to maintain product integrity.
• Conduct regular stock counts, process purchase orders, and manage incoming deliveries and restocking activities to keep inventory levels accurate and optimised.
• Handle end-of-day cash procedures, reconcile daily sales figures, and maintain precise financial records to support audit and compliance requirements.
• Design and maintain wine displays and merchandise presentation to enhance customer appeal and encourage sales.
• Ensure the shop and storage areas comply with all health, safety, and licensing regulations, and coordinate maintenance as needed.
• Monitor the condition and quality of stock, identifying and removing any wines that are compromised or past their usable life.
• Deliver direct customer service, process sales transactions, and resolve customer enquiries and complaints on the spot.
• Identify and implement operational improvements independently to increase store profitability and efficiency.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in any relevant field.
• Minimum two to three years of experience in retail or hospitality environments.
• Demonstrated financial literacy, including cash handling, reconciliation, and basic accounting practices.
• Proficiency with point-of-sale (POS) systems, Microsoft Excel, and inventory management software.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills with meticulous attention to detail in product rotation, merchandising, and quality control.
• Competence in inventory management, stock control, and accurate bookkeeping.
• Customer-focused approach with a strong sales orientation and ability to handle transactions and enquiries professionally.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work independently and solve problems without constant supervision. Knowledge of wine types, storage, and handling best practices is advantageous.
