About the Role
Co-operative Bank of Kenya is recruiting a Sacco ICT Systems Officer for its Nairobi headquarters. This is a full-time position responsible for overseeing the bank’s information technology infrastructure, systems, and digital platforms. The role sits within the ICT department and requires hands-on technical expertise combined with strategic thinking about system reliability and security.
The Sacco ICT Systems Officer at Co-operative Bank of Kenya will manage critical banking technology systems that support daily operations across the organisation. You will be the technical point person for network stability, data protection, and user support—ensuring that branch staff, members, and customers experience minimal disruption. This position reports to senior ICT leadership and works cross-functionally with business units across the bank.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot the core banking and SACCO management systems, ensuring continuous availability and optimal performance.
- Manage the bank’s ICT infrastructure including servers, networks, firewalls, routers, switches, and internet connectivity.
- Provide technical support to end users across branches and departments, addressing system issues and minimising downtime.
- Monitor system performance in real time, identify bottlenecks, and implement improvements to enhance reliability and speed.
- Design, test, and execute disaster recovery and data backup procedures to protect critical business data.
- Oversee ICT security protocols, manage user access controls, and enforce compliance with information security policies.
- Plan and coordinate software upgrades, patches, system integrations, and migrations with minimal business interruption.
- Maintain accurate records of ICT assets, software licenses, and hardware inventory, ensuring compliance and cost control.
- Support digital banking channels including mobile banking, internet banking, ATM platforms, and agency banking services.
- Prepare technical reports and recommendations for management on system performance, security posture, and infrastructure needs.
- Train staff on ICT systems and new technologies to build capability across the organisation.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related discipline.
- Minimum three years of professional experience in ICT systems administration, networking, or technical support roles.
- Proven experience managing core banking systems or SACCO management platforms in a financial services environment.
- Solid knowledge of network administration, cybersecurity, database management, and system administration principles.
- Demonstrated competence in disaster recovery planning, backup strategies, and business continuity management.
- Professional ICT certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CISA, CISM, CEH, CompTIA Security+, or Microsoft certifications (preferred but not mandatory).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with excellent technical troubleshooting skills.
- High level of integrity, confidentiality, and ability to handle sensitive banking data responsibly.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical staff.
- Capacity to work independently and collaboratively within a team, managing pressure and meeting deadlines.
