Job Title
Research Assistant (Field Enumerators)
Job Purpose
The Research Assistant (Field Enumerator) will support the collection of accurate and reliable qualitative and quantitative data to inform program learning, accountability, and improvement. The role works closely with project teams under the supervision of the MEAL Officer or M&E Lead to conduct field-based data collection using digital tools across thematic areas such as Livelihoods, Shelter, WASH, and Solid Waste Management.
Duties and Responsibilities

Conduct household surveys, Key Informant Interviews (KIIs), and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) in assigned locations.

Guide respondents through questions to ensure clarity and completeness of responses.

Engage respectfully with refugees, host communities, and other vulnerable populations.

Capture, organize, and transcribe qualitative data accurately and consistently.

Collect field data using approved digital data collection platforms.

Support data quality assurance through checks, cleaning, and verification activities.

Follow community entry procedures and uphold humanitarian principles and ethical standards.

Participate in additional data collection and support tasks during emergency response activities as required.
Job Requirements
-
Diploma or Certificate in Development Studies, Social Sciences, Community Development, Agriculture, Environmental Health, Monitoring and Evaluation, IT, or a related field.

A Bachelor’s degree will be an added advantage.

Previous experience as a Research Assistant, Field Enumerator, or Data Collector is desirable.

Ability to use digital data collection tools such as Kobo Collect, ODK, SurveyCTO, or Comcare.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Strong data entry accuracy and typing skills.

Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of Swahili, Turkana, or refugee community languages such as Somali, Nuer, Dinka, or Arabic is an added advantage.

Ability to understand research tools and accurately interpret survey questions.
