About the Role
KCB Bank Kenya is recruiting a Sahl Relationship Manager for its Kimathi Street Branch and Gateway Branch in Nairobi. This is a full-time banking position focused on managing Islamic banking products and customer relationships across both branches. The role sits within KCB Bank Kenya’s Islamic banking division, serving both corporate and retail customers in the Nairobi market.
The Sahl Relationship Manager will lead customer acquisition, portfolio growth, and service delivery for Sharia-compliant banking products. You will work across two high-traffic branch locations, collaborating with relationship teams and the broader retail network to expand the business while maintaining strict compliance with Islamic banking principles and KCB Bank Kenya’s risk standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain customer relationships with both corporate and retail clients, ensuring consistent engagement and satisfaction.
- Sell Sharia-compliant products and cross-sell additional services from the product basket, tracking performance against agreed targets.
- Coordinate with relationship teams and branch networks across KCB Bank Kenya to identify growth opportunities and expand the Sahl customer base.
- Implement risk mitigation strategies to prevent fraud, revenue leakage, and other operational losses within the Sahl portfolio.
- Supervise and develop branch staff through training programmes to ensure they meet service delivery standards.
- Maintain accurate documentation and administration of all Sharia-compliant customer accounts and transactions.
- Monitor portfolio-at-risk (PAR) levels and take corrective action to keep performance within targets.
- Address customer complaints promptly and review service standards to maintain the highest quality of banking in Kenya.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in any discipline (BA/BSc/HND or equivalent professional qualification accepted).
- Minimum 3 years of general work experience in a professional role.
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience in banking operations.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience working with Sharia banking or Islamic financial products.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in credit assessment, underwriting, or credit portfolio management.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in sales and relationship management within a banking environment.
- Islamic Banking Certification or equivalent Islamic finance qualification is preferred.
