About the Role

Light International School (LIS) in Nairobi is recruiting two qualified teachers for its Physical Education department. This is a full-time position at a co-educational day and boarding institution that follows the British National Curriculum from Kindergarten through A-Level. The school serves students from diverse geographical and cultural backgrounds, and seeks experienced educators who can deliver high-quality PE instruction across multiple age groups and examination levels.

The Teacher of Physical Education (2 Positions) at Light International School (LIS) will be responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing PE curriculum at both IGCSE and A-Level standards. You will work within a structured British education framework while contributing to the holistic development of students through physical activity, sports science, and personal fitness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver Physical Education lessons aligned with the British National Curriculum and examination board specifications
  • Assess student progress and maintain detailed records of achievement across IGCSE and A-Level PE programmes
  • Develop curricula that reflect current educational standards and best practice in PE instruction
  • Support students in preparing for IGCSE and A-Level examinations through targeted teaching and revision sessions
  • Supervise practical activities and ensure safe use of PE facilities and equipment

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education with a specialism in Physical Education or related field
  • Valid Teachers Service Commission (TSC) registration in Kenya
  • Minimum 5 years of classroom teaching experience in Physical Education
  • Proven experience teaching IGCSE and A-Level PE programmes
  • Demonstrated expertise in curriculum development and student assessment methodologies
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities
  • Well-developed organisational and interpersonal skills
