About the Role
Huresco, a leading timber wholesaler and retailer operating in Nairobi, is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to lead financial strategy, cash management, tax compliance, and working capital optimisation across its manufacturing and supply chain division. This is a full-time position based in Nairobi, reporting directly to senior management. The Finance Manager Job (90K) at Huresco combines strategic oversight with hands-on management of accounting, receivables, payables, inventory control, and regulatory compliance functions.
The successful candidate will work across a complex operating environment spanning timber processing, manufacturing, imports/exports, and contracting activities. You will be responsible for maintaining robust financial controls, ensuring strict adherence to Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) requirements, and providing commercial insight to support business expansion and operational efficiency initiatives. This role demands both technical accounting expertise and the ability to influence business decisions through clear financial analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain rolling cashflow forecasts; advise on liquidity management, capital deployment, and support the preparation and execution of budgets, forecasts, and multi-year financial strategy.
- Deliver tax strategy and compliance guidance across manufacturing, timber processing, import/export, and contracting operations; ensure adherence to all KRA regulations including VAT, PAYE, corporate income tax, customs procedures, and eTIMS requirements; coordinate external audits and tax filings.
- Oversee accounts receivable and payables functions to maintain optimal debtor days and supplier relationships; manage payment workflows, supervise AR/AP teams, and ensure invoicing accuracy, account reconciliations, and proper documentation.
- Contribute financial and commercial analysis to project evaluations, procurement decisions, and business expansion plans; establish key performance indicators across collections, inventory turnover, manufacturing efficiency, and procurement; support optimisation of ERP, accounting, and inventory systems.
- Design and implement financial strategies to enhance profitability and operational efficiency across all divisions; ensure tight alignment between financial planning, tax compliance, and day-to-day operational delivery.
- Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes; prepare management accounts and ensure production of accurate, timely financial statements.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or a related discipline, plus a professional qualification: CPA(K), ACCA, or equivalent recognised credential.
- Minimum 5 years of direct experience in finance and operations management within manufacturing, construction, timber, or industrial sectors.
- Demonstrated expertise in manufacturing taxation, KRA compliance frameworks, and Kenya import/export regulatory requirements.
- Proven ability in cashflow forecasting, inventory planning, and working capital optimisation across multi-site operations.
- Hands-on proficiency with ERP and accounting software platforms; advanced Excel skills for reporting, modelling, and data analysis.
- Strategic thinker with sound commercial judgement, high ethical standards, strong negotiation ability, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
