About the Role
Helen Keller Intl is recruiting Enumerators at Helen Keller Intl to support a nutrition and health research initiative in Kenya. This is a temporary position lasting three weeks, scheduled for either late July 2026 (pre-test phase) or September 2026 (post-test phase), or both. The role involves conducting structured surveys with women clients across Kaloleni and Ganze sub-counties in Kilifi County to assess their experiences and perceptions of nutrition services.
Helen Keller Intl operates across 14 African countries, delivering evidence-based health and nutrition programs to vulnerable populations since 1915. The current assignment is part of the Transforming Lives with Nutrition Actions (TLNA) program, funded by Global Affairs Canada. This study examines how to strengthen health and nutrition counselling while addressing gender and sociocultural barriers to accessing services. Data Entry in Kenya for this project requires trained enumerators who can manage electronic data collection with precision and integrity.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend and complete a mandatory three-day enumerator training before fieldwork begins
- Collect assigned survey data using electronic data collection methods, including informed consent procedures and daily quality assurance checks on all forms
- Conduct interviews accurately and on schedule within designated clusters, reporting progress to the supervisor as required
- Verify that all survey materials—phones, consent forms, identification tags, and other tools—are prepared and available before survey commencement
- Store all collected data securely in accordance with established data management protocols
- Perform additional duties as directed by the supervisor
- Maintain strict adherence to ethical standards, safeguarding policies, and confidentiality agreements throughout the assignment
Requirements & Qualifications
- Minimum qualification: Diploma in Gender and Development Studies, Community Development, Sociology, Public Health, Nutrition, Epidemiology, Statistics, or a related field (Bachelor’s degree is advantageous)
- Demonstrated experience with electronic data collection platforms such as SurveyCTO or equivalent tools
- Previous experience in quantitative data collection
- Current resident of Kilifi County with established familiarity of local communities
- Fluency in both Kiswahili and the local dialect(s) of the work area
- Ability to work in Kaloleni and Ganze sub-counties with full availability during the three-week data collection period
- Prior experience collecting data at health facilities is preferred
- Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and capacity to work with minimal supervision
