About the Role
World Vision Kenya is recruiting a Driver for its Nairobi office on a full-time basis. This is a permanent position within the Driving & Logistics sector, supporting the organisation’s field operations and staff mobility across Kenya. The Driver will be responsible for safe, reliable transportation of staff, visitors, and donors, as well as comprehensive vehicle maintenance and fleet reporting.
The successful candidate will work within a structured fleet management system, ensuring vehicles remain roadworthy and documentation stays current. This role requires someone with solid mechanical knowledge, a clean driving record, and the ability to work independently while adhering to World Vision Kenya’s safety and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide timely transportation for staff travelling to and from the workplace and attending official assignments.
- Maintain passenger and vehicle safety throughout all journeys, following defensive driving practices.
- Coordinate additional vehicles and drivers when needed for high-priority events, including donor site visits, field campaigns, evaluations, and baseline studies.
- Transport staff, visitors, and donors to and from field locations as required by World Vision Kenya operations.
- Keep the vehicle clean and presentable at all times, maintaining professional standards.
- Maintain an accurate vehicle movement logbook, recording all trips and fuel consumption.
- Conduct routine mechanical checks and report any faults or performance issues to the fleet office immediately.
- Arrange vehicle servicing at scheduled intervals and handle minor repairs; escalate major repairs through the fleet team.
- Park the vehicle only at authorised World Vision Kenya parking facilities.
- Prepare monthly vehicle reports and maintain organised filing of all documentation after approval.
- Submit invoices and fuel returns to fleet management to support the payment and reimbursement process.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum three years of professional driving experience in commercial or organisational settings.
- Valid driving licence for Class B, C1, C, CE, D3, or CD under the current driving classification system.
- Practical knowledge of motor vehicle maintenance, including routine checks and basic troubleshooting.
- Competency in computer use, including Microsoft Office and basic data entry for logbooks and reports.
- First Aid certification (preferred but advantageous).
- Defensive driving certification or equivalent safety training (preferred but advantageous).
- Previous employment in an NGO or non-profit sector (preferred but advantageous).
- Preference given to candidates who are resident in Tiaty constituency.
