The Digital Literacy Officer at Ol Pejeta Conservancy (OPC) will oversee technical support facilitators and ensure schools in the network have functioning ICT infrastructure and skilled staff to deliver digital learning. This role bridges conservation education with community development, requiring both technical troubleshooting capability and the ability to coordinate between schools, government education offices, and partner organisations. The position reports to the Community Development Manager and sits within the education pillar of OPC’s broader conservation and community engagement work.
Key Responsibilities
- Deploy digital learning technology and deliver technical support to schools participating in the ARES programme, ensuring equipment functions reliably and teachers can use it effectively.
- Train school staff in ICT tools and digital teaching methods, supporting curriculum integration and pedagogical shift toward technology-enabled instruction.
- Manage, supervise, and coordinate Digital Literacy Support facilitators across partner schools, including assignment planning and routine monitoring of service delivery quality.
- Maintain ICT laboratory accessibility and functionality by liaising with school leadership, ICT teacher coordinators, and the Ministry of Education on equipment maintenance, proper use, and replacements.
- Lead data collection, surveys, and monitoring activities across Community Development Programs; develop and refine monitoring and evaluation frameworks to track programme outcomes.
- Manage donor and partner communication, including logistics for in-country visits, progress reporting, and stakeholder engagement.
- Document programme activities through photography, video, and written stories for donor reports and internal marketing communications with the PR and Marketing Department.
- Prepare weekly work schedules and monthly progress reports for submission to the Manager Education; stay current with emerging trends in ICT and digital learning pedagogy.
- Support positive relationships between Ol Pejeta Conservancy, partner schools, and neighbouring communities, and uphold the organisation’s health, safety, and conservation standards.
Requirements & Qualifications

- Minimum four years of hands-on experience implementing digital literacy programmes in educational or community settings.
- Proven knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems, hardware systems, and networking fundamentals.
- Demonstrated competency in data analysis, reporting, and monitoring and evaluation (M&E) tools and frameworks.
- Strong ICT and digital literacy expertise with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues in learning environments.
- Skill in training and capacity-building delivery to diverse audiences, including teachers with varying technical backgrounds.
- Experience supervising or coordinating teams (preferred but not mandatory).
- Specialised training in conservation education or community engagement (advantageous).
