About the Role

Daima SACCO is recruiting a Credit Officer to join its credit administration team in Nairobi. This is a full-time position responsible for managing the credit lifecycle—from loan appraisal through disbursement, monitoring, and recovery. The role sits at the intersection of credit risk management and member business development, requiring someone who can balance prudent lending practices with growth-focused relationship building.

As a Credit Officer at Daima SACCO, you will work across multiple branches, ensuring compliance with credit policy and regulatory standards while actively identifying new lending opportunities. The position reports to the Credit Manager and involves both back-office credit administration and frontline member engagement.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee loan procedures at every stage—appraisal, approval, disbursement, monitoring, and portfolio management—in line with Daima SACCO’s credit policy and regulatory obligations.
• Lead debt collection and recovery activities across branches to maintain Portfolio at Risk (PAR) at or below 5%.
• Process loan defaults with due process and timeliness, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal credit policies.
• Identify, visit, and build relationships with prospective customers; actively market and promote Daima SACCO’s loan products and services.
• Prepare and submit monthly performance reports to the Credit Manager, analysing portfolio growth, asset quality, market trends, and actionable recommendations.
• Review escalated loan cases from branches and provide guidance on interventions and resolutions.
• Manage death claims by ensuring deceased members’ loan obligations are settled through Daima SACCO and relevant insurance providers.
• Verify monthly remittances from check-off systems; follow up on delays, irregularities, or shortfalls and reconcile with source records.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Minimum Diploma in Credit Management, Co-operative Management, Banking, Finance, Business Administration, or a related business discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in credit administration, loan appraisal, debt recovery, or equivalent roles within a SACCO, bank, or financial services organisation.
• Proficiency with computer applications and financial management systems.
• Working knowledge of SACCO loan products, credit administration procedures, and experience serving civil servant members and payroll-deducted loan schemes.
• Understanding of collateral management and loan recovery procedures; legal background or exposure to recovery processes is advantageous.
• Demonstrated ability to assess credit risk, market financial products, manage loan portfolios, and support business growth.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking capabilities.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills; capable of sound written and verbal business expression.
