This is an ideal role for someone with 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in the NGO sector, who is detail-oriented and comfortable working in an ERP environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Review invoices submitted in the Workday ERP system to verify adequate supporting documentation and correct coding; create invoices for Operations departments as required.
- Conduct initial reviews of accounting adjustments, journal entries, reclassifications, accruals, and other manual postings to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare and upload payroll, fringe benefit, and other accounting entries into the ERP, with full supporting documentation for audit trails.
- Manage the supplier onboarding process for WRI Kenya and oversee staff advances and receivables, including timely reconciliation and follow-up.
- Support internal, statutory, and donor audits by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and providing requested supporting documentation.
- Process and settle vendor and sub-awardee payments, as well as staff advances and expense reimbursements in a timely and accurate manner.
- Monitor WRI Kenya’s cash position, support preparation of funding requests, and coordinate banking activities to maintain adequate liquidity for operations and programs.
- Support monthly and year-end financial close processes, including reconciliation of assigned general ledger accounts and archiving of finance documents in SharePoint.
- Assist with payroll preparation, ensure timely distribution of payslips and P9 forms, and file all payroll-related statutory returns in compliance with Kenyan regulations.
- Collaborate with program teams on mobile money disbursements to participants and ensure timely remittance of payroll statutory deductions (PAYE, NSSF, SHIF, Housing Levy, NITA levy, withholding tax) to government authorities.

- Demonstrated experience applying accounting principles in the processing and recording of financial transactions.
- Hands-on experience working with ERP systems to process accounting transactions and maintain financial records.
- Proven ability to handle high-volume transactional accounting work with accuracy and strong attention to detail.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with competency in Word and PowerPoint.
