Cigna is recruiting a Billing Analyst Africa Business to manage invoicing operations and client portfolio administration across the African region. This is a full-time position based in Kenya, offering responsibility for premium billing, commission processing, and financial coordination with internal and external stakeholders. The role sits within the finance and operations function, supporting the broader insurance and healthcare services delivery across multiple African markets.
The Billing Analyst Africa Business at Cigna will work with a portfolio of group clients, handling the end-to-end billing cycle from setup through payment collection and dispute resolution. You will collaborate with teams across the Middle East and Europe, manage broker relationships, and ensure compliance with local regulatory requirements specific to the African market.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up new client groups and review product configurations, premium structures, and benefit enrolment details for accuracy and compliance.
- Process invoices according to agreed billing schedules and maintain timely billing cycles for all portfolio accounts.
- Build and maintain client relationships through clear communication around billing processes, payment expectations, and invoicing consistency across regions.
- Coordinate with finance teams in the Middle East and Europe to maintain and administer individual client portfolios according to regional requirements.
- Respond to client enquiries regarding eligibility, billing accuracy, and payment status; escalate to Sales and Client Management teams as needed.
- Track outstanding premium payments, report delinquencies in line with credit control procedures, and coordinate follow-up with Client Managers, Credit Controllers, and Legal Services.
- Process and settle broker commissions accurately and on schedule, maintaining records of all payments and reconciliations.
- Generate invoicing, commission, and credit control reports for management review and decision-making.
- Maintain comprehensive and organised client files documenting products, coverage terms, and key contacts for each account.
- Identify process inefficiencies and propose improvements to the Team Leader based on operational analysis.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma qualification as a minimum.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, with particular expertise in Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- Minimum three years of demonstrated experience working in the insurance sector.
- One to two years of billing operations or billing analysis experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of insurance regulatory requirements and their practical application in daily operations.
- Strong numeric skills and the ability to work with accuracy in high-volume, detail-oriented environments.
- Proven ability to organise, prioritise, and manage multiple workflows while meeting individual and team targets.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical capabilities, with a proactive mindset toward identifying and implementing improvements.
- Sound communication and rapport-building skills; able to interact professionally with clients, brokers, and internal teams.
- Capacity to work independently and under pressure while maintaining high standards of accuracy and attention to detail.
