Assistant Director/Planning And Project Management

This is a full-time position at the Kenya School of Government, reporting to the Deputy Director. The successful candidate will be responsible for strategic planning, performance management, and project oversight across the organization.

Mandatory Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Project Management, Monitoring & Evaluation, or equivalent from a recognized institution
  • Master’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Strategic Management, Monitoring & Evaluation, Public Policy, Project Planning and Management, or equivalent from a recognized institution
  • Twelve (12) years of relevant work experience, with at least three (3) years in a supervisory or comparable position
  • At least three (3) years of service in the position of Principal Officer or equivalent
  • Membership in a relevant professional body, where applicable
  • Management course of at least four (4) weeks from a recognized institution
  • Demonstrated merit and ability reflected in work performance and results
  • Fulfillment of Chapter Six requirements of the Constitution of Kenya 2010

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide advice in the development of organizational policy position papers
  • Develop the Authority’s annual performance contract
  • Undertake development of institutional annual work plans
  • Develop quarterly, biannual, and annual reports for the department
  • Develop organizational periodic strategic plans
  • Domesticate performance contract guidelines for cascading performance contracting across organizational levels
  • Monitor implementation of corporate performance targets and prepare reporting
  • Prepare quarterly, semi-annual, and annual corporate performance reports
  • Liaise with inter-agencies performance monitoring and evaluation teams and provide feedback
  • Develop periodic performance reports and submit to relevant government performance management agencies
  • Participate in national steering and oversight committees on performance review
  • Develop corporate and departmental performance monitoring and evaluation tools
  • Liaise with departments on monitoring of implementation milestones for contracted corporate major projects
  • Conduct mid-term and end-term corporate performance assessment for the Authority’s strategy implementation
  • Conduct annual performance review for corporate performance contract and prepare report to relevant agencies
