About the Role

Plexus Energy Limited is seeking a full-time Accounts Intern to join its finance team in Kenya. This internship offers hands-on experience across core accounting functions, from daily transaction processing to month-end financial reporting. You will work within a structured accounting environment, gaining practical exposure to the financial operations that support the organisation’s activities.

The Accounts Intern at Plexus Energy Limited will report to the finance department and contribute to maintaining accurate financial records, supporting reconciliations, and assisting with compliance tasks. This is a full-time position ideal for recent graduates or final-year students pursuing qualifications in accounting or finance who are ready to apply classroom knowledge to real-world scenarios.

Key Responsibilities

• Process accounts payable and receivable transactions, including invoice verification and payment scheduling
• Conduct bank and ledger reconciliations to identify and resolve discrepancies
• Enter financial data into accounting software systems such as Sage or QuickBooks with accuracy
• Prepare invoices, post entries to the general ledger, and maintain organised filing systems
• Support the monthly closing process by compiling schedules and preparing supporting documentation
• Track expenses and assist with cost allocation across departments or projects
• Participate in inventory reconciliation activities where applicable to the business
• Gather and organise documentation required for external audits and internal reviews
• Support tax compliance tasks including VAT processing and withholding tax calculations

Requirements & Qualifications

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce
• CPA qualification (Part I or II) is advantageous but not required
• Sound understanding of fundamental accounting principles and the accounting cycle
• Competent in Excel or Google Sheets for financial analysis and data manipulation
• Familiarity with accounting software platforms such as Sage, QuickBooks, or similar systems
• Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in numerical work
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information responsibly
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively within a team
