Mukuru is seeking a Marketing Intern to join its Nairobi office on a hands-on internship. This is a practical position where you’ll work directly on brand positioning, campaign execution, and community engagement rather than administrative tasks. You’ll report to the Country Manager and collaborate with the marketing team to establish Mukuru as a trusted brand within target communities across Kenya.
The Marketing Intern at Mukuru role combines field activations, content creation, social media management, and market research. Key Responsibilities
- Plan and execute community-based campaigns and activation events in partnership with the Country Manager and central marketing teams
- Represent Mukuru at campus events, markets, community gatherings, and other high-footfall locations to build brand awareness
- Manage Mukuru Kenya’s social media platforms, including content creation, scheduling, and community interaction across multiple channels
- Develop and maintain a monthly content calendar aligned with campaign objectives and brand standards
- Produce social media content, videos, and campaign visuals; capture customer stories and community moments for storytelling
- Track campaign performance metrics, monitor social media engagement, and identify growth opportunities and market gaps
- Gather customer feedback during activations and field events; share insights on competitor activity and market trends
- Support customer onboarding processes during activation events and report on campaign effectiveness
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related discipline
- Fluent English communication skills; Swahili language skills are advantageous
- Active and regular presence on social media platforms with demonstrated familiarity with how these channels work
- Basic design or content creation skills, including ability to produce simple visuals and video content
- Strong storytelling ability and creative thinking approach to marketing challenges
- Comfort engaging with people in community settings and at public events
- Self-directed approach to work with strong organisational skills and ability to adapt to changing priorities
- Genuine interest in fintech, marketing strategy, or community-based business impact
