Africa Management Solutions Limited is recruiting an Accounts Assistant to join their finance team in Kenya. Key Responsibilities
- Handle cash office and tellering operations in compliance with approved financial and operational procedures.
- Process customer deposits, withdrawals, interbank transfers, and payment transactions with accuracy and timeliness.
- Manage cheque writing, cheque clearing workflows, and follow-up on unpaid or returned cheques.
- Process and monitor interbank transfers across MPESA, agency banking, POS, and related platforms.
- Post all banking and treasury transactions into the banking system with proper documentation.
- Support fixed deposit administration including rollovers, certificate issuance, and account reconciliations.
- Prepare daily bank reconciliation statements and resolve outstanding discrepancies promptly.
- Maintain petty cash records, vouchers, and supporting documentation with complete accuracy.
Additional Duties
- Support branch cash vault replenishments and treasury schedule management.
- Monitor and reconcile e-wallet and e-value accounting processes.
- Prepare payment and transfer schedules for reporting and audit purposes.
- File accounting entries and supporting documents in organized departmental systems.
- Manage stationery inventory, reconciliations, and monthly stock counts.
- Liaise with banks and service providers to resolve transaction-related issues.
- Assist in preparation of financial reports and operational reconciliations.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Banking, or related field.
- CPA Part II or equivalent accounting qualification.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in accounting operations, reconciliations, or finance support roles.
- Prior experience in banking, microfinance, SACCO, or financial services sector is preferred.
- Working knowledge of accounting principles, reconciliation processes, and treasury operations.
- Familiarity with banking transactions, cheque clearing procedures, and payment processing systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and accounting software platforms.
- Strong analytical, numerical, and organizational capabilities with attention to detail.
