Accountant at JM Associates – JM Associates Kenya Job Details

  • We are a Professional Services Firm offering Business Advisory, Audit, Tax, Consulting, and Financial Advisory services to public and private clients in Africa, spanning multiple industries. We are known for providing services that meet the specific needs of our clients thus improving their efficiency and overall business performance.
  • We are looking to hire an Accountant to be part of our Business Outsourcing department. The selected candidate will be in charge of managing accounting functions for clients, including bookkeeping, financial reporting, tax compliance, team oversight, client relationship management and advisory.

Key Responsibilities

  • Effectively plan, supervise and execute Bookkeeping engagements in accordance with all relevant professional standards (accounting, quality control, and ethical) and Firm policies
  • Facilitate communication between clients and outsourcing team
  • Ensuring timely and consistent submission of monthly management reports
  • Apply appropriate business knowledge in anticipating, identifying and addressing issues relevant to the clients’ business.
  • Ensure timely processing of clients’ monthly payroll.
  • Ensure timely Preparation, filing and remitting of all monthly statutory returns
  • Assisting and facilitating audits, fact checks and resolving discrepancies
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients
  • Managing staff on engagements to ensure staff utilization is maintained, including prioritizing tasks, establishing budgets and monitoring profitability of each assignment.
  • Developing the skills, capabilities and potential of junior staff through supervision, coaching, mentoring, knowledge transfer, internal training delivery, and assignment of challenging work opportunities.
  • Performing any other duties as may be required.

Skills and Qualifications Required

  • A Business related degree or the equivalent combination of education training and work experience.
  • A Minimum of at least 2 years’ experience is required as well as one or more relevant professional certifications (i.e. CPA, ACCA)
  • Public accounting firm experience is desirable.
