About the Role
Arvocap Asset Managers is recruiting a full-time Accountant to join its finance team in Nairobi. This position sits at the core of the organisation’s financial operations, overseeing transaction processing, financial reporting, and compliance across the company’s accounting functions. You will report to senior management and work within a regulated financial services environment where accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail are non-negotiable.
The Accountant at Arvocap Asset Managers will manage end-to-end accounting cycles, from daily transactions to year-end closures, while ensuring the company maintains robust financial controls and meets all regulatory obligations. This is a full-time role suited to a qualified professional with strong experience in accounting standards, tax compliance, and financial systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and record all accounting transactions, maintain ledgers, and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing documents.
- Reconcile accounts payable and receivable balances, manage petty cash accounts, and oversee bank payment transactions to ensure timeliness and accuracy.
- Develop cash flow forecasts and budget projections; monitor actual expenditure against approved budgets and flag variances.
- Prepare and maintain balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial statements; publish these reports within set timelines.
- Assess and report on the company’s financial health, liquidity position, and overall fiscal performance to senior leadership.
- Manage member invoicing, receipting, and account reconciliation; process vendor payments with correct withholding tax deductions as required by law.
- Ensure all financial records are audit-ready; conduct transaction audits, maintain documentation, and implement data security protocols including regular database backups.
- Calculate tax liabilities, prepare tax returns, and ensure compliance with e-TiMS and other regulatory requirements; review and recommend improvements to accounting systems and procedures.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor of Commerce degree with a specialisation in Finance or Accounting, or a related tertiary qualification or diploma.
- CPA Part II certification (mandatory).
- Minimum of three years’ hands-on experience working in a finance or accounting office environment.
- Demonstrated proficiency with accounting software platforms, particularly Zohobooks or Odoo; advanced competency in Microsoft Excel.
- In-depth knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), accounting regulations, and Kenya tax laws.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities; excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of professional integrity, discretion with confidential information, and commitment to financial governance.
- Experience in wealth management, investment advisory, or the broader financial services sector is advantageous.
