About the Role

Emerge Egress Consulting is recruiting a Waiter to join their hospitality client in Nairobi on a full-time basis. This is a customer-facing position in a busy restaurant or dining establishment where you will be responsible for delivering professional table service and ensuring guests have a positive dining experience. The role involves taking orders, serving food and beverages, and coordinating with kitchen and bar staff to maintain smooth operations throughout service hours.

The Waiter at Emerge Egress Consulting position is suited for someone with at least one year of hands-on experience in a hospitality setting. You will be expected to work shifts, including opening and closing procedures, and to handle the pace of a busy dining environment with professionalism and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet and seat guests in a professional and courteous manner.
• Take accurate food and beverage orders from customers and relay them promptly to the kitchen and bar teams.
• Serve dishes and drinks to guests in accordance with proper service standards.
• Suggest menu items and highlight daily specials to encourage sales and enhance the dining experience.
• Address guest concerns and requests promptly, resolving any issues to ensure satisfaction.
• Maintain cleanliness and proper arrangement of dining tables, chairs, and service stations.
• Calculate bills, process payments, and ensure all transactions are recorded accurately.
• Assist with restaurant setup at the start of shifts and closing duties at the end of service.
• Gather feedback from guests and communicate relevant information to management.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Diploma in Hospitality Management, Food and Beverage Service, or a related qualification.
• Minimum 1 year of proven experience working as a waiter or waitress in a restaurant or hospitality venue.
• Proficiency in hotel or restaurant management software systems is advantageous.
• Strong communication and customer service skills with ability to interact professionally with guests.
• Presentable appearance and high standards of personal integrity.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and handle multiple tasks under pressure.
• Flexibility to work shift patterns including evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required.
• Problem-solving capability and willingness to take on additional responsibilities when needed.
