About the Role

KCB Bank Kenya is recruiting for a Head of Brokerage position based in Nairobi. This is a full-time senior leadership role overseeing the bank’s brokerage operations across Kenya and the wider East African region. The successful candidate will drive business growth, manage capital markets activities, and lead a team responsible for serving institutional investors, corporate clients, and high-net-worth individuals.

As part of KCB Bank Kenya’s structure, the Head of Brokerage reports to senior management and plays a central role in the bank’s capital markets division. The role requires strategic thinking, deep knowledge of securities trading and brokerage operations, and proven ability to manage complex financial relationships and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and execute both long-term and short-term strategies for the brokerage business, including development of business plans and annual budgetary forecasts.
• Meet agreed business targets across volumes, market share, and profitability for all brokerage segments.
• Maintain and strengthen the bank’s leading position in the brokerage sector through sustained growth in market share, transaction volumes, and profit generation.
• Identify and pursue opportunities to expand brokerage services to foreign institutions, domestic corporations, and high-net-worth individuals.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for foreign institutional investors and develop a robust foreign investor customer base for KCB Bank Kenya.
• Design and implement new service delivery channels and strategic partnerships to increase market penetration and competitive advantage.
• Identify cross-border investment synergies and lead regional expansion initiatives across East Africa.
• Build and maintain strong ongoing relationships with major clients and stakeholders.
• Develop and review training programs and product refresher courses for the brokerage team to ensure service quality.
• Ensure all brokerage operations comply with the bank’s internal policies, regulatory standards, and statutory requirements set by Kenyan financial authorities.
• Lead, manage, coach, and develop both direct and indirect reports, fostering a high-performing team culture.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline from a recognized and accredited institution.
• A recognized professional certification such as Automatic Trading Systems (ATS), Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI), Institute of Certified Investment and Financial Analysts (ICIFA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or Associate of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (ACSI).
• Minimum of eight years of professional experience in financial services, brokerage, capital markets, or a closely related sector.
• At least five years of direct experience in brokerage operations, securities trading, or capital markets activities.
• A minimum of five years managing brokerage trading operations, operational risk, and credit exposure linked to brokerage activities.
• At least two years in a leadership or people management position, with a track record of building and developing high-performing teams.
