About the Role

NCBA Group is recruiting a Manager, DevOps to lead the design, implementation, and management of scalable infrastructure and deployment pipelines that support reliable software delivery across the organisation. This is a full-time position based in Nairobi, reporting to senior IT leadership. The successful candidate will drive the adoption of DevOps best practices, enable collaboration between development and operations teams, and ensure faster application delivery through CI/CD automation and infrastructure excellence.

The bank operates a modern technology stack and requires experienced engineering leaders to strengthen its platform delivery capabilities. This Manager, DevOps at NCBA Group role is critical to supporting the bank’s digital transformation and operational reliability objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement secure CI/CD pipelines that integrate security controls across the software development lifecycle.
  • Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to standardise deployment processes and enable repeatability.
  • Lead the adoption of DevOps frameworks and automation practices across development, QA, and operations teams.
  • Support automated testing initiatives—including unit, integration, performance, and security testing—to meet functional and non-functional quality standards.
  • Enforce IT policies, security standards, and regulatory compliance aligned with ITIL and DevSecOps best practices.
  • Collaborate with internal IT teams, software developers, external vendors, and business stakeholders to ensure delivery alignment and platform stability.
  • Identify opportunities to automate manual processes, improve monitoring capabilities, and optimise system performance across the SDLC.
  • Advise senior leadership on emerging technologies and process efficiencies that strengthen infrastructure operations.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Master’s degree is advantageous).
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in IT systems development, platform engineering, or equivalent infrastructure roles.
  • At least 2 years of hands-on DevOps experience, including CI/CD tool implementation, automation scripting, and cloud infrastructure management.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar platforms.
  • Strong programming and scripting skills in languages such as Java, Python, Bash, or C#.
  • Working knowledge of database systems including Oracle and SQL Server.
  • Solid understanding of Linux/Unix environments and integration technologies (REST, SOAP, JSON, XML).
  • Familiarity with testing tools such as Selenium or JMeter; certifications in DevOps, Cloud, Agile, ITIL, or PRINCE2 are advantageous.
