About the Role

Caritas Microfinance Bank is recruiting for three Relationship Officer positions across its operations in Kenya. This is a full-time role in the microfinance and banking sector, offering candidates the opportunity to work directly with clients and contribute to the bank’s lending and deposit mobilisation objectives. The bank serves low-income earners and small-scale entrepreneurs, making relationship officers instrumental in client acquisition, retention, and loan portfolio management.

The Relationship Officer positions sit at the front line of client engagement, bridging the bank’s products and services with customer needs. You will be responsible for managing a portfolio of accounts, processing credit applications, and ensuring timely repayment of loans. Key Responsibilities

• Identify and acquire new customers within assigned territories, conducting initial financial assessments and product suitability evaluations.
• Manage an active loan portfolio by conducting regular client visits, monitoring loan performance, and addressing payment defaults promptly.
• Prepare and submit credit applications with supporting documentation, ensuring all required information is complete and accurate before processing.
• Mobilise savings and fixed deposits from existing and potential clients to grow the deposit base.
• Maintain accurate client records and transaction documentation in compliance with bank policies and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct client financial literacy sessions and product awareness training to encourage product uptake and responsible borrowing.
• Escalate credit concerns and loan defaults to management for intervention and recovery action.
• Prepare performance reports on client acquisition, portfolio quality, and deposit mobilisation activities.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Secondary school qualification (Form Four or equivalent); tertiary qualifications in business, finance, or related fields are an advantage.
• At least one year of experience in banking, microfinance, customer service, or sales in a financial institution.
• Demonstrated ability to identify client needs and match them with suitable financial products.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with clients from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with banking software systems.
• Valid national identification document and the ability to obtain a mobile money or financial services provider license if required.
• Willingness to work in an assigned territory and undertake regular client visits and fieldwork activities.
