The bank provides tailored credit solutions, deposit products, and financial advisory services to underserved market segments. Based in Nairobi, Caritas MFB is currently recruiting for three Relationship Officer positions across its core lending portfolios.

Open Positions

Relationship Officer – Micro Business

  • Identify and onboard new micro business customers, building the client base across assigned territories
  • Design and recommend appropriate credit and deposit products matched to customer cash flow and business needs
  • Oversee performance delivery within the micro business team, setting targets and monitoring achievement
  • Conduct regular site visits to customers, assess business viability, and manage relationship continuity
  • Review credit applications, balance risk appetite against profitability, and make timely lending decisions
  • Supervise assigned Relationship Officers and provide feedback on their portfolio management

Relationship Officer – Agribusiness

  • Identify new agribusiness lending and deposit opportunities from existing and prospective clients in the agricultural value chain
  • Grow the agribusiness portfolio by marketing tailored solutions and supporting farmers and agribusiness enterprises
  • Conduct appraisal and evaluation of credit facilities, ensuring compliance with prudential guidelines
  • Gather market intelligence on agricultural trends, commodity cycles, and emerging client segments
  • Cross-sell bank products and train agribusiness clients on how to access available services
  • Develop new agribusiness products in response to market demand and customer feedback
  • Maintain high portfolio quality through proactive customer engagement and timely collection follow-up

Relationship Officer – Small Business Enterprise (SBE)

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all SBE customers, managing their credit and deposit relationships
  • Conduct needs assessment with prospective clients to identify suitable financial solutions
  • Appraise and process SBE loan applications within agreed timelines, ensuring accuracy and compliance
  • Review existing facilities proactively, assess repayment capacity, and recommend facility adjustments where appropriate
  • Cross-sell additional bank products and provide customer training on product features and processes
  • Identify and escalate fraud-related concerns; maintain a high-quality lending portfolio
  • Research industry trends and client sectors to inform credit decisions and relationship strategy
  • Participate in customer forums and industry networks to maintain relationship depth

General Requirements Across All Positions

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, commerce, finance, or related field (or HND equivalent)
  • 3 years of banking sector experience; for Agribusiness and SBE roles, at least 2 of those years must include business development, credit appraisal, or customer acquisition
  • Working knowledge of MSME lending products, credit appraisal techniques, and prudential guidelines including KYC requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and manage relationship teams to agreed targets
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to review credit proposals, assess risk, and make sound lending recommendations
  • Professional banking qualifications (AKIB certificates or equivalent) are an advantage
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage clients and internal stakeholders
  • Self-motivated, resilient, and confident; comfortable working in a target-driven environment
