Eleven Degrees consulting, on behalf of an internal client who is in the business of Avocado Export and Avocado Oil Production, wishes to fill the new positions of Truck Driver on Fixed Term Contract Basis to be based in Ruiru Town.

  • The Truck Driver is responsible for transporting avocados and related produce from farms to distribution centers and processing facilities. The role includes timely deliveries, maintaining the quality of the cargo, transporting goods and materials over short or long distances using heavy-duty trucks and complying with all transportation regulations.

Delivery and Transport:

  • Safely transport company goods or raw materials according to the assigned schedule.
  • Handle loading, unloading, and secure delivery of items to designated locations.
  • Maintain an accurate log of travel routes, delivery details, and times.
  • Ensure timely deliveries while optimizing routes for efficiency.

Vehicle Maintenance:

  • Conduct routine vehicle checks (brakes, fuel, oil, lights) and ensure compliance with inspection, insurance, and branding requirements.
  • Report any mechanical issues promptly and ensure the vehicle remains in optimal condition.
  • Keep the vehicle clean and compliant with safety and operational standards.

Customer Service & Relationship Management:

  • Interact professionally with clients and delivery recipients, ensuring excellent service and adherence to delivery instructions.
  • Handle inquiries, provide updates on deliveries, and address any concerns in a courteous manner.
  • Communicate delays or issues proactively and offer solutions to maintain customer satisfaction.
  • Represent the company positively by maintaining a professional attitude and appearance.

Compliance with Traffic & Safety Regulations:

  • Adhere to all traffic laws and company safety protocols.
  • Ensure the safety of goods, passengers (if applicable), self and other road users during transit.
  • Follow best practices for securing cargo to prevent damage or loss.

Monitoring and Documentation:

  • Maintain delivery receipts, trip logs, and expense reports accurately.
  • Complete all required paperwork associated with each trip.
  • Monitor temperature and humidity levels in refrigerated trucks (if applicable) to ensure product freshness.
  • Transport avocados from farms, packing facilities, or warehouses to local and regional markets, ensuring proper handling.
  • Valid CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) with a clean driving record.
  • At least 5 years of truck driving experience, preferably in agricultural or perishable goods transportation.
  • Experience with GPS including streets, highways and buildings is a plus
  • Knowledge of local and international government regulations and practices related driving i.e. speed limits, right of way rules, road signs and traffic regulations.
  • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to understand mechanical spare parts of a truck
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy in performing tasks such as quality mechanical damage checks.
  • Ability to follow instructions and adhere to standard operating procedures.
  • Proficiency with GPS and maps application skills;
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability calm under pressure i.e. traffic jams, adverse weather condition or emergencies
  • Resourcefulness and creativity in finding solutions to driving challenges.
  • Good physical condition and stamina are necessary for performing the duties of a Truck Driver.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Willingness to collaborate with colleagues and support team goals and objectives.
