The Linguist plays a vital role in delivering high-quality translation and copy-editing tasks, along with on-demand video-related assignments. This position emphasizes adherence to specified deadlines and quality standards, ensuring compliance with the Language Process throughout task execution.

Job Description:

As a Linguist, your responsibilities include:

Performing on-demand translation tasks.
Engaging in transcreation, translation, and post-editing tasks.
Completing various translation-related administrative duties.
Handling project-related inquiries.
Preparing, managing, and maintaining language materials (e.g., glossaries, Style Guides, and work instructions) at the highest quality standards and keeping them up to date.
Collaborating with clients on linguistic matters as needed.
Fostering effective communication and resolving questions related to terminology and language matters within the team.
Participating in the development of new and improved work processes.
Assisting the team with arbitrations and providing LQE feedback.
Achieving the objectives set by the Swahili/Hausa Team Lead.

Qualifications:

To be considered for this role, you should have:

A university degree in Linguistics/Applied Languages.
Native-level fluency in Swahili, both written and spoken, as well as fluency in English, both written and spoken.
Experience as a translator in Mobile Apps, Search Engines, IT Consumer Products, Entertainment, Marketing, Software UI, and Websites is a valuable asset.
A keen sense of language in both source and target languages.
Familiarity with terminology in IT consumer products, social media, and entertainment.
A solid understanding of the localization process.
Proficiency in standard software applications like Windows, Office, and common CAT tools (e.g., SDL Studio, XTM).
The ability to quickly adapt to new localization tools and applications.
Effective presentation skills and the capacity to respond to inquiries from various stakeholders.
Strong time management skills to work effectively under tight deadlines.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Willingness and ability to train and share knowledge with others.
The capability to work efficiently within a remote team.
