About the Role

KCB Bank Kenya is recruiting a Senior Advisory Associate to join its advisory and capital markets division on a full-time basis. This role reports to the Senior Manager and Head of Advisory, supporting the execution of complex transactions across debt capital markets, equities, and merger & acquisition mandates throughout Kenya and the broader East African region. The position combines technical financial expertise with client relationship management and team leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Structure and execute debt capital markets, equities, and M&A transactions across East Africa, working alongside senior leadership to deliver client mandates on time and within scope.
  • Lead the preparation of financial models that apply recognised methodologies, ensuring accuracy and supporting deal valuations and client decision-making.
  • Develop and oversee transaction documentation including Information Memorandums, Teaser Reports, Prospectus documents, Pitch Books, valuation reports, and Term Sheets.
  • Identify and onboard new business opportunities that support revenue growth and long-term sustainability of the advisory practice.
  • Oversee valuation assessments and due diligence processes, leading analyst and associate teams through detailed financial and commercial investigations.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with key clients, investors, and market counterparties to strengthen market presence and repeat business.
  • Monitor transaction workflows and audit trails to ensure all regulatory requirements, service level agreements, and internal procedures are met within agreed timeframes.
  • Mentor and manage direct reports, providing coaching, performance feedback, and professional development to build team capability in capital markets and M&A execution.
  • Monitor macroeconomic and sector-specific trends, regulatory changes, and market structures to inform transaction strategy and identify emerging risks.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Business, Statistics, Economics, Finance, or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in investment banking, corporate banking, private equity, or structured corporate finance roles.
  • Minimum 4 years of demonstrated experience in financial modelling for transaction analysis and valuation.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in credit analysis, quantitative analysis, or equivalent analytical disciplines.
  • Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience in debt, equity, or structured products transaction structuring and execution.
  • Minimum 2 years of team management or leadership experience supervising analysts or junior associates.
  • Professional certifications (CIFA, CFA, or CPA) are an advantage; a master’s degree in Finance, Strategic Planning, or Business is also valued.
