About the Role
Co-operative Bank of Kenya is recruiting a Sacco ICT Officer to join its technology team in Nairobi. This is a full-time position reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, responsible for managing the institution’s technology infrastructure, systems, and digital services. The successful candidate will oversee core banking platforms, ICT security, business continuity arrangements, and user support—ensuring technology reliably supports member service delivery and institutional growth.
The role combines strategic planning with hands-on technical management. You will work across ICT governance, systems administration, cybersecurity, compliance, and digital transformation initiatives. This position is ideal for an experienced ICT professional seeking to make a direct impact on banking operations within the SACCO sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop annual ICT plans, budgets, and schedules aligned with the SACCO’s strategic objectives; formulate, review, and implement ICT policies, standards, and controls.
- Administer and maintain core banking systems, databases, servers, networks, and digital platforms to ensure optimal performance, security, and availability.
- Monitor system capacity, utilization, and performance; coordinate upgrades, patches, and integrations; maintain accurate asset records and software license documentation.
- Implement and monitor ICT security controls; protect systems and data against cyber threats; manage antivirus, endpoint protection, access controls, and patch management.
- Identify and assess ICT-related risks; develop and maintain data backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity arrangements; ensure compliance with data protection and regulatory requirements.
- Provide first-line and second-line technical support to staff; diagnose and resolve hardware, software, network, and application issues; conduct user training on ICT systems.
- Identify opportunities for digital transformation; support implementation of digital products and service channels; recommend emerging technologies that align with business goals.
- Liaise with ICT vendors and service providers; support procurement and evaluation of equipment and software; prepare periodic reports on ICT operations, projects, incidents, and system performance.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field from a recognized institution.
- Minimum five years of relevant ICT experience, preferably in a SACCO, banking, or microfinance environment.
- Demonstrated experience supporting core banking systems, enterprise applications, networks, and ICT infrastructure.
- Proven expertise in ICT security, systems administration, and user support.
- Professional certifications in Microsoft, Cisco, CompTIA, ITIL, VMware, Cybersecurity, or Cloud Computing are advantageous.
- Strong competency in systems administration, database administration, information security, cloud and virtualization technologies, and technical troubleshooting.
- Excellent analytical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and report-writing skills.
