Public Relations and Communications Associate Job Responsibilities:

As part of our team, you will have the exciting role of increasing Jumia Kenya’s brand awareness through various media channels and social media platforms. This involves implementing a comprehensive communications strategy for different stakeholders, including consumers, sellers, partners, employees, and regulators/communities.

You will work closely with a well-established network of media partners and actively engage with them by pitching Jumia stories and organizing interviews. Writing editorials for media, including press releases and reports, will also be part of your responsibilities.

Organizing press conferences and PR events will be essential to showcase Jumia’s initiatives and achievements. In case of any local crises, you will handle crisis management by issuing statements and providing recommendations.

As a representative of the company, you will act as a spokesperson, effectively communicating Jumia’s values and initiatives to the public. Collaborating with various departments, such as Marketing and HR, you will manage the corporate social media presence.

Creating engaging social media content in the form of videos and images for platforms like Twitter, the Group Website, Twitter Kenya, and LinkedIn Kenya will be crucial to enhance our online presence.

You will also be responsible for reporting on PR activities, adhering to PR processes and tracking progress. Additionally, you will support the Group Comms team in cross-country projects and contribute to the implementation of innovative marketing operations to increase website traffic and conversions.

Proofreading content, including social media posts, blog articles, and press releases, will ensure that our communication remains clear and professional. Furthermore, you will actively engage with public affairs, involving interactions with regulators, international institutions, and other relevant stakeholders.

Internal communications and corporate social responsibility initiatives will also fall under your scope of work.
