About the Role
Peoplelink Consultants Ltd is recruiting a Petrol Station Manager to oversee full operational control of a petrol station in Nairobi. This is a full-time position requiring hands-on leadership across fuel retail, convenience store operations, and site management. The successful candidate will report directly to senior management and be responsible for all aspects of daily station performance, staff supervision, financial accountability, and regulatory compliance.
The petrol station sector in Kenya demands managers who can balance commercial targets with strict safety and environmental standards. You will work in a customer-facing environment where efficiency, accuracy, and compliance directly impact profitability and brand reputation.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all daily operational activities across the fuel retail section and the convenience store, ensuring smooth service delivery and stock availability.
- Lead, schedule, and manage fuel pump attendants, cashiers, and security staff, ensuring accountability and professional conduct at all times.
- Perform daily financial reconciliations of fuel sales figures, dip readings, pump meter data, and all cash and digital payment transactions.
- Monitor fuel inventory levels and liaise with suppliers to arrange timely stock replenishment and avoid shortfalls.
- Enforce compliance with all health, safety, security, and environmental regulations specific to petrol station operations on site.
- Manage station financial performance through cost control measures, banking procedures, budget preparation, and regular expense documentation.
- Address customer concerns, answer inquiries, and respond to special requests in a timely manner to maintain service quality standards.
- Coordinate with maintenance contractors to ensure all fuel pumps, underground tanks, and associated equipment remain fully operational and fit for use.
- Keep detailed records of sales transactions, inventory movements, and staff attendance for periodic audits and management review.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Business Management, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
- Minimum 2–3 years of hands-on experience in petrol station operations, with demonstrated supervisory or management-level responsibility.
- Solid knowledge of wet stock management, fuel reconciliation techniques, and loss prevention strategies.
- Sound understanding of health, safety, security, and environmental (HSSE) compliance requirements for fuel retail stations.
- Proven leadership capability, team coordination skills, and ability to resolve conflict constructively among staff.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities, with excellent customer service orientation.
- Proficiency in mathematical calculations, financial reporting, and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel for data analysis).
- Willingness to work flexible schedules including shifts, weekends, public holidays, and night work as operational needs require.
