About the Role

Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all laundry processing for student uniforms and personal garments, including washing cycles, machine drying, pressing, and folding to ensure timely availability.
- Organize and maintain the laundry facility workspace, keeping all equipment in safe working order and storing detergents and supplies securely according to safety protocols.
- Document and track all items sent for laundering, implementing a system to match cleaned clothing with individual students for prompt collection and distribution.
- Remove and replace bed linen regularly, inspect mosquito nets and furnishings for damage or wear, and coordinate repairs or replacements as needed.
- Oversee external cleaning contractors assigned to residential dormitories and communal areas, verifying that cleaning standards meet institutional hygiene benchmarks.
- Alert supervisory staff immediately to any equipment breakdowns, structural damage, or maintenance requirements in the residence or laundry block.
- Apply established infection control and sanitation measures during all laundry handling and facility cleaning, adhering strictly to institutional health guidelines.
- Coordinate the storage and return of soiled or surplus linens and cleaning inventory to the central linen store as directed.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or an internationally recognized equivalent qualification.
- A certificate or diploma in Housekeeping, Laundry Operations, or Hospitality Services from an accredited institution (preferred but not mandatory).
- One to two years of verifiable experience working in laundry operations, housekeeping, or hospitality roles within a school, hotel, or institutional environment.
- Demonstrated understanding of infection control standards, hygiene protocols, and the safe operation of commercial laundry equipment and cleaning products.
- Practical knowledge of end-to-end laundry processes—washing temperature settings, stain removal, proper ironing, garment folding, and organized linen storage.
- Ability to consistently maintain high standards of personal and operational cleanliness and hygiene in all work activities.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling, tracking, and returning student belongings to minimize loss or damage.
- A collaborative mindset with solid verbal and written communication skills; honest, reliable, and genuinely invested in supporting student welfare and residential comfort.
