Position Overview

This serves as the introductory and training level for individuals with diplomas in this field. An officer at this grade will operate under the supervision and guidance of a Senior Officer.

Job Details

The responsibilities at this stage encompass:

  • Receiving and collecting specimens
  • Processing and analyzing specimens
  • Preparing reagents
  • Recording and reporting results
  • Dispatching results for clinical or research management
  • Conducting routine maintenance on laboratory equipment
  • Ensuring compliance with biosafety and biosecurity protocols
  • Contributing to the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

Candidate Requirements

To be eligible for this role, applicants should possess:

  • A diploma in fields such as Medical Laboratory Sciences, Analytical Chemistry, Applied Sciences, Food Science and Technology, Medical Laboratory Technology, Biotechnology, or equivalent from a recognized institution
  • A Registration Certificate from the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB) or another recognized regulatory body if applicable
  • A valid practicing license from the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists, where applicable
  • Proficiency in computer applications
