About the Role

Salix Data is recruiting a Junior Software Developer for a full-time position based in Kenya. This role is designed for early-career developers who are ready to build practical skills in web development, automation, and AI-integrated applications. You’ll work alongside experienced developers who will mentor you through real projects while you contribute to internal tools and business systems.

As a Junior Software Developer at Salix Data, you’ll gain hands-on experience across the full development lifecycle—from writing code and debugging applications to testing and deployment. Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain internal web applications using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern frontend frameworks such as React
• Contribute to projects that add AI capabilities into internal tools and business processes under team guidance
• Support automation initiatives and robotic process automation (RPA) workflows with assistance from senior developers
• Identify and resolve bugs, participate in troubleshooting sessions, and support application quality assurance and testing activities
• Create and maintain technical documentation, process notes, and repeatable workflow guides for team reference
• Participate in team meetings, code reviews, and planning sessions; apply feedback and contribute ideas for workflow improvement
• Use AI tools responsibly for research, prototyping, documentation, testing, and development support
• Work with cross-functional teams to deliver assigned tasks and contribute to monitoring and deployment efforts

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; or equivalent hands-on experience such as bootcamp training, internship work, or academic projects
• Solid foundational knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Demonstrated interest in web development, automation, AI technologies, and emerging development practices
• Strong problem-solving mindset with attention to detail in code and documentation
• Effective communication and teamwork skills; ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical colleagues
• Willingness to learn continuously, respond constructively to feedback, and adapt to new tools and methodologies
• Preferred: experience with React or another modern frontend framework, familiarity with Git or version control systems, exposure to testing and QA practices, or prior use of AI-assisted development tools
